We know one person Sonia Sotomayor's going to be like on the bench. Surprise, it's Clarence Thomas! Because they are both memoir whores. Even more so than vice-presidential literature, can any other genre of memoir be more sanitized and less of interest to the present or history?

Political my-life-and-times books are perennial safe bets. You know which one I remember liking, is Golda Meir's. Maybe this one will be like that.

How can the collected on-the-record lies of prominent serial liars not be of interest to the public?

Not that SS is one. But memoirs in general are a goldmine.

Re – Clarence Thomas: It's weird when someone writes a memoir and what comes from it is the understanding that he doesn't know who he is or what he really cares about. Sandra Day wrote one too. About growing up in Arizona. ZZZ.

I will take a memoir by someone who has actually achieved something (e.g., SCOTUS or becoming VP) over the dreck of every random 30 year old whose sole life achievement has been convincing someone to publish this very memoir. This also applies to every "my mom died of X" and "I overcame an addiction to Y" memoir.
