The 13 Most Awkwardly Altered Lyrics On "Kidz Bop 18"

COS THIS IS A DIS-ASS-TUHHH 13. "The sun is shining everyday, but it's far away / Over the world is [unintelligible syllable that sounds like 'blehhh']" ("The sun is shining everyday, but it's far away / Over the world is death," from OneRepublic's "All The Right Moves")

12. "I'm still alive but I'm barely breathin' / Just prayin' to a thing that I don't believe in" ("I'm still alive but I'm barely breathin' / Just prayed to a God that I don't believe in," from The Script's "Breakeven")

11. "Oh, oh, I'm infected by the sound / Oh, oh, stop, this beat is moving me" ("Oh, oh, I'm infected by the sound / Oh, oh, stop, this beat is killing me," from Cascada's "Evacuate The Dancefloor")

10. "She's not broken, she's just a baby / But her boyfriend's like a friend, just like a friend" ("She's not broken, she's just a baby / But her boyfriend's like a dad, just like a dad")

9. "Wrap it up / Can't stop 'cause it feels like it's really close" (Wrap it up / Can't stop 'cause it feels like a overdose," from Cascada's "Evacuate The Dancefloor")

8. "Tryin' to act a little crazy (at us)" ("Try'na creep a little sneak peek (at us)," from Katy Perry's "California Gurls")

7. "Out in the club and I'm eating that grub / And you're not gonna reach my telephone" ("Out in the club and I'm sippin that bubb / And you're not gonna reach my telephone," from Lady Gaga and Beyoncé's "Telephone")

6. "Don't want to miss / Don't want too much / Just walk away from me and hush" ("Don't wanna kiss / Don't wanna touch / Just smoke my cigarette and hush," from Lady Gaga's "Alejandro")

5. "I'm into him, he's into me / Don't pay him any attention … Don't be mad once you see that he's into it" ("I'm up on him, he up on me / Don't pay him any attention … Don't be mad once you see that he want it," from Beyoncé's "Single Ladies")

4. "Like a popstar, you're Madonna / And I'm always gonna wanna blow your mind" ("Like a Virgin, you're Madonna / And I'm always gonna wanna blow your mind," from Train's "Hey, Soul Sister")

3. "And I cannot text you when I'm going to dance, ay" ("And I cannot text you with my drink in my hand, eh?," from Lady Gaga and Beyoncé's "Telephone")

2. "And you out when you ain't got anyone" ("And you wild when you ain't got nothin' on / haha," from B.o.B. and Bruno Mars' "Nothin' On You")

I've heard that The Script line replaced with the "But no wise words gon' stop the bleeding" from the second verse on Florida radio.

I'm pretty sure that "blow your mind" means exactly what the first guess would be in "Hey, Soul Sister." I guess removing virgin destroys the context?

Also, that second Cascada line sounds more suggestive.

DoctorDisaster (#1,970)

I guess it's a good thing that somebody is more comfortable with kidz boppin' to orgasms than overdoses?

deepomega (#1,720)

Kidz Eroticize The Darnedest Things.

conklin (#364)

On Kidz Bop 1, the "She'll take away your pain/Like a bullet to the brain" lyric in "Livin' La Vida Loca" was left unchanged.

Sorry ladies, I'm spoken for.

hortense (#2,780)

#9 is totally dirtier in the revised version. Like a dropped verse from Next's boner-on-the-dance-floor opus, "Too Close," or some such.

katiechasm (#163)

"I hope I don't die before I get old!"

C_Webb (#855)

I prefer the Glee "Golddigger" method, which is simply to leave blank space where the offending term would be: "She ain't messin' with no broke … broke …".

Flaneur (#998)

The Gleeks were just singing the radio edit, which deals with "broke niggas" the same way.

Ken Layne (#262)

This is not music for children, for fuck's sake. A few months ago the Mcdonald's put one of these in my five-year-old's anus burger meal. I threw it away. What kind of societal retardation makes anyone think having a chorus of autotuned children shouting some idiot dance-fuck song equals children's music?

My niece used to love Kidz Bop she she was around 7 or 8ish.

HiredGoons (#603)

Chillen' wit' chilluns.

GoGoGojira (#2,871)

"eatin that grub"? Okay grandma!

sox (#652)

but don't kids hear the real songs on the radio or see the videos on tv anyway? i'm always amazed that any reference to pot (which is increasingly becoming legal across the country) is taken out of songs, but detailed descriptions of having sex in a club are left in, as well as, say…mdma make you feel like a champion…

My sister explained that children like to hear the songs sung by voices that sound like their own.

Hunter Walker (#4,174)

This makes me realize how out of touch I am with the current pop music scene. I don't know the original versions to any of these except for California Girls.

If I hadn't read that post about Train before his I would not have heard any. I was expecting Dead Kennedys and stuff. I'm dumb.

miette (#2,704)

Also unchanged, the first line of Modest Mouse's Float On: "I backed my car into a cop car the other day," Which made me think maybe Kidz Bop was on to something…
