Christine Vachon Interview for 'Mildred Pierce'
"TV is far less risk-averse these days than cinema."
Christine Vachon, discussing her HBO project, with director Todd Haynes (!), of Mildred Pierce (!).

OOH BABY.
A fascinating career, she has had. Some really beautiful films but also a lot of high-brow schlock, a lot of it, like that flick about Valerie Solanas. Whoo, that was a bad one, but so fun!
She is a painfully cruel and petty woman, though. It makes me wonder if the ends justify the means(pun intended!).
I interned there.
I'm pretty sure her philosophy is 'I make socially-conscious cinema, and therefore I can treat everyone below me like human garbage.'
Also, Christine: EVERYONE WAS AWKWARD IN HIGH SCHOOL.
The film of Mildred Pierce was a lot better than the novel. So that could be a problem.
Table, do you know her? I've seen her speak a few times and she seemed super generous with info and experience. a buddy interned for her and LOVED her.
With Kate Winslet, even? Did I read that correctly? Damn.
