The very funny Party Down, which just aired its season-two finale, has been canceled by Starz. "After careful consideration," "grateful to everyone involved," "proud," said the corporate blah blah announcing the axing.

It's a sad day today for people who love the funny.

And yet, King of Queens lives on.

Wait, what? You mean in re-runs, right? They're not bringing it back, are they?

garge (#736)

After seeing how Season 2 concludes and knowing its fate, would you recommend one to begin watching it anyway? Or would the sadface be too sad? (serious inquiry)

ClarkPietas (#5,008)

Watch it! It ended quite well actually. That would be like saying don't watch Arrested Development since it was canceled after 3 seasons.

Brad Nelson (#2,115)

You should watch The Palisades, bro.

garge (#736)

I suppose I was thinking along the lines of shows that are cancelled with no closure (because it was unanticipated), or shows like Freaks and Geeks (which I would still recommend) that leave you wanting moooore.

Watch it. It's so good that it will make up for the sadface.

garge (#736)

Thanks guys (albeit, bro? harsh), I will watch it, perhaps timing it perfectly before the Mad Men premiere so I can distract my sense of loss.

Art Yucko (#1,321)

garge, watch it.

:'( //// (arm cuttings) :'D the open-ended transience of the entire plot/scenario will make up for any "closure" issues. (:'()

Someone suggested they do a special to wrap up like the UK office did. I think it would be great to have them cater the Apatow movie wrap party or whatever. Or if more time passes, Henry's movie (assuming he gets the role). But seriously, they could just be catering 8 year olds' birthday parties for a whole season and I'd be loving it.

Chris Albrecht, who killed Deadwood, brings his high-quality taste to Starz.

Crantastical (#4,127)

I still mourn Deadwood and actually watched Kings to see Swearengen. It, Sir, was no Deadwood.

That show was made me uncomfortable. Kings, I mean.

Crantastical (#4,127)

@ mishaps: there was something kind of incesty and homoerotic about it, no? i always felt like the brother and the future king were about to lock eyes over the sister/GF and then tear each other's clothes off.

mishaps (#5,779)

@Crantastical: Well, they were basically David and Jonathan from the Bible, so yeah.

Among all the other reasons I couldn't watch it was because the palace was the Brooklyn Museum, and there's no suspension of disbelief when you know a location that well. And yet somehow Ian McShane and Eamonn Walker were filming in my neighborhood and I didn't know about it! I feel like the Internet failed me on that one.

Since every TV comedy I ever like is cancelled around the season 2/season3 mark, say goodbye to Parks and Rec, too. That cabin in Montana is starting to sound better and better…

blackalabama (#1,434)

god fucking dammit. I was really hoping they'd come back with season 3. Now I'm just going to assume the novel Roman wrote while high is a best seller, Ron finds true love, Henry gets the role and Lydia remains Lydia.

refractor (#3,009)

Lydia must remain Lydia. Yes.

This is why Balk went on vacation, isn't it?

blackalabama (#1,434)

Fuck, I'm going to listen to "My Struggle" to deal with this:

the Holo-WHAT?

evilfred (#2,351)

But the dreamy Adam Scott is now on Parks and Rec. If it makes it back at mid-season next year.

"that's why they call it the palisades."

Art Yucko (#1,321)

:'(

dr.funke (#336)

Oh jeez. I thought I was the only one trying to get my Swearengen fix off Kings. That show! Ugh. I felt like many people on that show were trying very hard to speak around their chiclet veeners. Esp the daughter. It was distracting.

Flashman (#418)

Nooooo!!11 I only just discovered this exquisite program thanks to Mr. Balk here, and now they do this?! I'm left feeling just like Henry at the end of S.1, which I only just watched last night.

I'm rewatching now.
And cryyyyyyyying.

Zach Bates (#5,537)

I wrote a song about this. I call it "You Stained Me"… or "Mind Gel". I'm not sure which yet.

Ken Marino's haircut is spectacular
