The New Yorker's "20 under 40" list of fiction writers is out. (One piece of great news: Chris Adrian is on it!)

Scocca did it. [I kid]
How is Jonathan Safran Foer still under 40? I have been tired of him for at least a few decades.
Also, why isn't Dan Humphrey on this list?
He doesn't eat meat and has an elaborate explanation why which includes cruelty and the Holocaust, which makes no sense to me since I grew up around Holocaust survivors and none of them turned vegan/vegetarian or anything because of it.
Well, I now have a crush on Chris Adrian just from that interview.
Ack! How the hell did I post that accidentally from evil, evil Facebook?!?
He worked at a hospital in Blantyre?! AND he's a pediatrician who is also in divinity school. Wow for reals.
Well, I'm now officially too old to ever make this list. Excuse me while I go get drunk. Drunker. Whatever.
Try being eligible age-wise and still not making the cut. *sniff, sniff*
Eh, dont' get too upset. You know who else made lists? That's right.
(I was referring to Hitler, obviously.)
@Choire: I'm coming for Cat.
as a Professional Reader I can only send my love to the rest of you!?
Not earthshattering — the magazine was admiring some of these people a very long time ago ('02, and such?) — and so.
Sometimes writers who succeed in the eyes of this editorialship do so because they sound the same as everybody else on the masthead.
Wait! Heresy! Cannot criticize The New Yorker?
Thought you didn't care for/about fiction.
This would be the public service portion of the programme, then?
rivka galchen was a really excellent pick for this list.
wells tower gets called edgy but is actually quite dull.
he's a gator you know. also, how many people have read natasha by david bezmozgis? clearly, a man more talented than i am, but, boiii, that was boring.
I'm waiting for the issue to arrive in the mail before reacting to who did or didn't make it, but it pisses me off that The Internet and Lots of People pretend to care about fiction only when some publication like the New Yorker arbitrarily puts fiction writers on a list. Aren't we against SEO-y things here at The Awl?
I have my fingers crossed for their '20 Bloggers Over 40' issue.
Gary Shteyngart! That guy is hilarious. Or the books are anyway.
