Gypsy Crime Nation Seeks Solution For Gypsy Crime Problem

SCARY BUT ALSO A LITTLE HOTHungary's incoming prime minister, Viktor Orban, went on a little victory lap and ended up in Ord, where a third of the population is Roma. (Orban, as you well know, is the Fidesz guy; the formerly youth-driven fairy-liberal democrat party swung the other way some time ago, and the conservative group has 263 of the 386 seats in the new parliament. Also, the Jobbik party, which can safely be described as "nationalist," now has 47.) So what's the problem in Hungary? Mostly GYPSY CRIME.

Yes, Reuters?

Regional leaders told Orban and future Interior Minister Sandor Pinter, who also attended the forum on Tuesday, that the Roma community was a big part of the problem.

"As the population declines and schooling deteriorates, more people resort to social aid as their sole source of income," said Barnabas Tamas, mayor of Putnok, a small town near Ozd.

"To augment that, many people have turned to crime. Public safety has worsened considerably. We feel that every day."

So finally someone is going to figure out a solution to clean up this welfare-queen Gypsy crime problem, it sounds like. Hopefully the solution won't be too drastic, or, you know, final!

Wow. He's pretty big.

They have a WEE little parliament. It's cute!

A tiny advent calendar parliament!

My best friend is Romanian and my favorite story of his from the home country is how, over night, Gypsies dismantled and trucked away an entire steel bridge. That's the kind of organization and ambition that our copper-stealing meth heads really lack. (not to draw any similarities between meth heads and Romanis)

HEH. That is awesome. I mean, exactly–you'd think the meth would help people accomplish terrifically organized acts, instead of, whatever, cleaning the carpet with their fingers.

Beware the Jobbik work my son.

I'll always have a soft spot for Fidesz, if only for this.

("Please choose.")

When there's chicken paprikash, property crime never tasted so good.

So what does this mean for NYC's burgeoning storefront gypsy population? WIll it increase because opportunities are better here, or will it decrease since you can go back to Gypsy-land and dismantle bridges and shit?

Also, Gypsy-land sounds better.

Wait til they dismantle The Staten Island Ferry— oh wait, someone else already did that.

Perhaps Fidesz could hire SC Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer to address the Roma problem?

Hungary's pretty functional compared to Albania, where I was instructed to "watch where you step" because "the gypsies like to steal the manhole covers and storm drains." It made them seem like mischievous elves instead of, you know, a suppressed minority.

I love that in spite of how much Hungarians and Romanians hate Gypsies when they go abroad they are considered to be Gypsies. In Ireland Gypsies are politely called "Romanians," it's hilarious.

On a serious note, I would actually expect some kind of "special areas" to be set up for Gypsies in Hungary in the next year or so.

Fuck, where's my drink?

Hungarians love to dump on Gypsies. It would be such a great country if not for the Gypsies. And Romanians. They're a pretty hateful bunch sometimes.

It's like the Arizona of europe.
