Storm Thorgerson Talks Pink Floyd, Flying Pigs
Storm Thorgerson, the artist whose firm Hipgnosis designed many famous rock album covers and t-shirts I wore pretty much every day in 7th grade, has a show at London's Idea Generation Gallery this month. The BBC has an excellent gallery of his work with a soundtrack of him talking about it. It's unfortunately unembeddable, so you'll have to visit their website to see it. Above is another clip featuring him talking specifically about working with Pink Floyd. It's also enjoyable, because, along with having amassed such an impressive catalog of work, Mr. Thorgerson talks nicely.

My favourite Hipgnosis is probably Peter Gabriel's first solo album which is both gorgeous and simple.

It was all done pre-Photoshop too, some poor bugger had to paint in most of those water drops on the car.
The whole album package to Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine" was particularly awesome.
Granted, I was stoned much of the time I was looking at it, but still ….
I remember, as a youth that the Christianazis at my Mom's church used Pink Floyd cover art as examples of Satanic visuals. I'm not sure how that "logic" worked but it made me more, not less, interested in the Floyd.
