No one currently under the legal drinking age in the United States has ever lived in a world where "Law & Order" was not on TV. That will continue to be the case, probably FOREVER.

Ugh, the LA spinoff is going to be SO BAD. Why couldn't they go to, um, ANYWHERE ELSE?
Although! From the comments!
"Those of you who follow the Mothership may remember that Det. Curtis (Benjamin Bratt) referenced that he is living in California, when he came back for one episode in December"
Which akldjflas;kfjasl;f
I mean having Jerry Orbach do the occasional cameo wasn't enough to save Trial By Jury but who knows.
It would be funny if they came up with a "doink doink" that was like, the LA version. I'm thinking more of a twangy pornish "bwoww owww."
Eff why eye:
Orbach was actually part of the cast of Trial By Jury, originally. Yet because he got sick so rapidly from cancer, he only made it through two episodes of filming before departing the show and then soon afterwards passing away. Sadly, from Wikipedia:
Jerry Orbach's final onscreen appearance is in the episode "Forty-One Shots". Orbach was so ill at the time that he could barely speak above a whisper. Thus his final line of dialogue had to be rewritten; at the trial of a cop-killer, NYPD members had been barred from the courtroom, and they were waiting outside with Lennie Briscoe. After Lennie (peering in through the door) learned of the guilty verdict, he turned and whispered to the cops "They got him!".
they should follow the model of the international versions and just remake old L&O episodes set in Los Angeles. That would have to be better than the proposed spin-off, as well as the wretched current season of SVU.
Bum bum bum bum, buuuuuuuuuum
Remember when a commenter interpreted someone's onomatopoeia of that sound for racism against the Chinese? Much safer rendition.
Isn't it 'dooo dooo doodoodoodoo doo'?
Aw, you remembered my "Chung Chung." (Sure wish I knew how to insert a little TM there.)
Ah, yes, it was for that sound, not this sound. For your future endeavors!
I remember! I remember!
It's entirely possibly Ching Chong or whatever created a permanent association between TheAwl and the theme song for Law and Order. Way to go, cuiveen!
As an aside, I'd love a L+O spinoff set entirely in Chinatown. They couldn't call it that, obviously, but we could have like Jackie Chan or something in it. Solid gold!
Please…just bring back Connie Nielsen
cosign!
Sounds like someone is regretting Southland .. I wonder if this will be sponsored in part by Jay Leno's garage.
I've never watched a single Law & Order or CSI and I feel that I can't break my streak now. It's sort of like when Jerry Seinfeld hadn't thrown up since 1985 or whatever. It's not much, but I hold on to the little things.

I hope so. Det. Eliot Stabler bugs me, otherwise, love it.
My grandmother will be thrilled.
Next: NCIS spinoff set in the Army.
Wait this is totally wrong.
I was born in October 1989, so I lived in a Law and Order free world for nearly a year and it's still six months until I can drown my sorrows over this sad fact.
I love Law & Order. Who needs Ambien? A beer and L&O and I'm out.
