"He was worried about the karma, but I just loved the terrace."
-Patsy Kahn explains her husband Al's initial reluctance to purchase the Upper East Side duplex most recently owned by Bernie Madoff. Toy mogul Kahn was eventually convinced, and the couple paid approximately $8 million for the apartment.

Well, if you only have $8 million to spend in NYC, you know you're going to have to make some compromises.

wow! (1) what is the "obscure place" where that one resident summers? and (2) nice photo of mogul grabbing boobs, and of a boob-shaped wine glass!

Man, they used to say that if your boob could amply fill a wine glass, you were fine–but the wine glasses keep getting bigger and bigger!

I clicked through for those and was disappointed.

And I remember the measure as filling a champagne glass (wide, not a flute). And that is plenty.

::sigh of relief::

Thanks for keeping me abreast of the situation!

Aren't the old-fashioned champagne glasses supposedly shaped after Marie Antoinette's tits?

…. Oh god, I think I learned that on The Girls Next Door.

8$ for a sage cleanse, and presto chango.

ha, ha "taint of Madoff".

conklin (#364)

Gah. I can't believe his taint is in North Carolina now. It keeps me awake some nights.

Karma: buy low, sell high.

If you're worried about the karma, park it in the garagema.

The money goes to the victims, so by paying below the asking, they are screwing them again. Karma my ass.

He made a fortune on Cabbage Patch Dolls and Pokémon!? Like, manufacturing them or Ebay-ing finds? Either way, I'm in the wrong business. And how is that not screwing people just as bad as Madoff? I mean, I guess in this case the people literally asked for it.

Also, "The Kahns are anxious to move their collection of folk art…into their new home." Whenever someone mentions folk art, it always reminds me of Marge's popsicle-stick sculptures.
