I am sure the movie will be absolutely ridiculous-what little I remember about the original (and I actually remember the videogame inspired by it way better) was, even to a 9-year-old boy, utterly absurd. But they sure did a hell of a job with this trailer. But as we know, Jeff Bridges makes everything seem just that much cooler. [Via]

Double thumbs up on the nostalgia scale!
WOW I love that Flynn's Arcade is like, totally scary, run-down, abandoned and decrepit. AND YET SOMEHOW, there are STILL ALL THOSE UPRIGHT GAMES IN THERE that can be turned on WITH THE FLICK OF A SWITCH.
Here's what I remember about the original movie: Apart from some pretty cool visual artistry, it really sucked.
If you watched the whole thing stoned and with the sound turned off, it would probably be OK.
Needs more Cindy Morgan.
Can we stop with the 'guy jumping on you seen from below slow motion ANDTHENSPEEDITUP' shot?
What would have made this really cool? If it was still hand-animated.
No part of the original Tron was hand-animated. That's why it was a revolutionary movie. It was first film to use extensive CG visuals.
In fact, the graphics had to programmed by hand in machine language.
Needs more David Warner.
Looks like another great old idea with all the fun sucked out of it.
That would make sense if the original was fun. The original was tedious. The two best things about it when I saw it in a theater back in the day was (1) it was at the discount theater at Avenue j and Coney Island Avenue so I paid like $3 (I think?) and (2) there was a cat in the movie theater running up and down the aisle vying for the audience's attention.
So make the ticket price $3 and have a cat run up and down the aisle and I'm in!
It's distressing to me that no one has yet noted the direct reference to the ancient Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers video for "You Got Lucky" in the TRON LEGACY trailer.
See link below at 3:37.

I'm no Tom Petty fan -- it's just that no one noting this makes me feel old. (Which I am.) You all were probably born after 1984 and don't remember when MTV used to show videos -- you damn whippersnappers!
