"The Runaways" Trailer
Okay, here's the full-length trailer for the forthcoming The Runaways, starring Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie and the girl from Twilight as Joan Jett. Does this count as mumblecore? [Via]

If it has Greta Gerwig with her top off and arbitrary penises (penii?), it counts as mumblecore.
Fer real? Kim Fowley and everything?
Still, my dollar's on Drew Barrymore in The Suzi Quatro Story.
THERE IS ONLY ONE R- IT IS CHERIE, blashphemer.
It looks pretty fucking awesome, actually. They were kind of a terrible group, but it's a great story.
God, I so want this to be good.
There is no question in my mind it will be the next What We Do Is Secret.
Little Dakota Fanning is all growed… oh wait no, she's fifteen and we get to see her in panties.
Creepy.
Kristen Stewart plays a legendary rock singer despite having a two-note vocal range.
Horrifying.
Finally, a lesbian Velvet Goldmine!
And we did it the only way we knew how-on our own.
I know, I know, I'm snapping at Fake Movie Cherie Currie, but… Joan did it on her own, you did some geezer who looked like an anorexic Lou Ferrigno.
"Anorexic Lou Ferrigno". That might have to be my new alias.
Isn't Crimson and Clover and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts song?
@wb:
It's a Tommy James and The Shondells song, which Joan Jett covered with the Blackhearts in '81.
There is no way this movie is not going to be deeply sad for everyone who was actually alive during the '70s and '80s.
I knew it was a cover, but it just seems odd to have a post-Runaways Joan Jett track in the Runaways film.
@City_Dater I KNOW. Ack, Rodney Bingenheimer, my god, what a mess all that sad scene.
I'm excited for this for, um, other reasons, but The Runaways weren't that good were they? And the fact that they posed in their undies on album covers suggests that perhaps they weren't all that revolutionary either.
This actually looks pretty good. Anyone saying it's creepy, well Cherie Currie was only 16 when this all happened. So hey. Creepy, but accurate.
Based on a true story. And that means it's ALMOST true, kids. Honest.
They couldn't find a part for Gary Busey? And no cameo for Joan?
I'll see this is the theater, no doubt taking my seat in the sad old guy section.
Oh but it's written and directed by Floria Sigismondi
? And she is awesome.
I can't get over how the paused video makes DF look like Little J from Gossip Girl back in her muppet wig stage.
When I first scrolled past, I thought it was a young Naomi Watts.
Im sure they are all nice kids but why not use the original vocals?
They just sound so….young.
Hmmm. Needs a bit more teen acne, cheap eyeliner and glue sniffing, but I'm stoked to see it.
Sigh. This is making me wish "Times Square" had not been edited into a piece of shit. Robin Johnson, we hardly knew you.
Lurker.
