Vampire Weekend, "Giving Up the Gun"
In case you haven't seen it yet, here is the new Vampire Weekend video. It's pretty great for lots of reasons: RZA as Shaolin ninja/chair umpire, Jake Gyllenhaal as drunk, Lil Jon speaking French, the racially symbolic all-white set. Also, people playing tennis in motorcycle helmets and singer Ezra Koenig looking a lot like Michael Cera.

Was that Joe Jonas in the beginning?
I think that was Joe Jonas in the beginning.
zomgconfirmed.
Def JoJo
That was definitely Joe Jonas.
Was Gyllenhaal's fly unzipped?
BECAUSE.
Can someone tell me what's the deal with Jenny Murray? Where is she from?
I can't get enough of this album. I can't get enough of this video. That said, this is utter bullshit: "'Giving Up the Gun' just means turning your back on aggression and selfishness," Koenig explains of the song's concept. "The heroine of the video isn't an amazing tennis player, but she has heart. She stays calm despite the unfairness of it all."
I mean, that doesn't make any sense. He made that up after he saw the the final product, right?
Oh, man. I may have to start liking these guys.
yeeeah i've given in after fighting it for oh so long.
someone in this band looks like a jonas.
is it pervy if i watched this with the sound off?
Is it wrong that I got bored about 2/3 of the way through? Or is that just a sign of how MASSIVELY POPULAR this is/is going to continue to be?
Also: expensive video = a band popular amongst foreigners!
I couldn't watch the whole thing. What a dull, kitchen-sink waste of money.
yep.
Jake Gyllenhaal as a drunk with tearaway pants!
Which inevitably concluded with balls flying at his ass. I fear the little blue smurf boy hath been typecast.

+!
my first thought was, "weezer totally did this cameo BS in their videos years ago".
then i reminded myself that i'm trying not to be such a hater in 2010, and that resisting Vampire Weekend is futile.
Was that the Stig at about 1:30?
No, but it was a cross between black stig and white stig. And two of them no less!
Also, less Cera, more young Steve Jobs.
Also, video needed much more drunken, lecherous Gyllenhaal. I strongly approve of the tiny blue shorts. Also.
Less Stig, more Daft Punk
Good Gyllenhaal in this. He gives good comedic face.
Also, seemed like they're giving Koenig a Federer look: headband with dark hair neatly tousled (if those don't cancel each other) over it.
So bourgeois! I think these guys are making jokes about stuff that is bourgeois!
What the fuckity fuck is this? Koenig definitely has that Federer look however I bet Federer can write better songs. Why does anyone like these asshats?
