Superstar Rapper Going To Jail Seems More Mundane Than It Should

lil-wayne-rolling-stone-feb-2010-magazine-coverWell, Lil Wayne is scheduled to go to jail today, the result of a 2007 gun possession charge. He's pretty much the biggest rap star on the planet right now-well, after Jay-Z, I suppose. He's going to Rikers Island, which is not known for being a nice place. And he'll be there for at least eight months. But with the recent incarcerations of folks like T.I. and Gucci Mane as precedent, this sort of thing is starting to seem pretty normal (again). As Wayne himself told Rolling Stone, "I just say I'm looking forward to it."

I'm sure I'm like the zillionth person to say this but didn't he say he'd "rather be pushin' flowers/than be in the pen sharin' showers"?

I believe that was a reference to his unsuccessful turn as a florist, as owner and proprietor of 1800WeezyDelivery.com.

Biggest differences between Weezy out of jail and Weezy in jail? I'll start:
Out of jail: Purple drank; In jail: Pruno!

A corrections officer told MTV he gets a TV and a DVD player. So he will sit in a room and watch movies all day. Sounds like my life on the weekends.

The other day one of Johnny Cash's songs from the Folsom Prison album was on the radio and I thought: Jesus, they actually let a major recording artist into a maximum security prison to do a concert? Then I was sort of surpirsed that no rapper has tried to emulate it. Perhaps Li'l Wayne will work something out, since he'll already be there and all.
