Choire's comment to The Observer was just about the nicest, most hope-making sentiment I've heard in re the viability of the future of the publishing (in all its forms!) industry in a long time. How incredibly gracious and positive and just oh God let's all put on caftans and smoke a little weed and eat some cottage cheese, shall we??
Every time Chris Lehmann has come to my house he has brought a fine bottle of liquor with him. I am eagerly anticipating how much better I will be drinking now.
I see where you are going with this. But this doesn't strike me as a breech of the Chinese wall, or whatevs, if the subject in question was already good enough to publish here (and good enough to allow his work to be published gratis.) Assuming the promotion will take the same form as it has to date, with maybe a few Buy it now! tags thrown in for good measure, it passes muster. And the link- as- disclosure is totally cool.
Well, I'm not sure I was going anywhere with it. I just thought it was noteworthy to hear the publisher outright say that... not that such a strategy wouldn't be expected.
hooray!!
double hooray!!
2nded!
Joining the hooray parade!
Fantastic! Mark me down for 8!
Actually, I might wait for the box set of this and "Real America."
Yay!
Red letter day.
I just bought "Hunting the Tiger". Does that count?
Yes! I really actually want to read that.
Cheers, Chris! Now I know what to get everyone next Christmas. This could only be better if it came with a Public Apology companion volume.
STRONGLY AGREE
Also: pleased they still make books!

What a weird month for the Lehmann/Coxes!
I love that, and also that they kept the asterisks. "Whateverrrrr! sparkle sparkle"
What you said; you can have my cottage cheese.
SO WONDERFUL. I hope cocktail dresses and martinis can be included! Weed makes me even dumber than usual.
"too *whatever*" is the new "All the News Thats Fit to Print"
Fantastic!
That's tremendous!
I am delighted, but I demand a book of the 00s retrospective as well! My greed, like that of the rich, is boundless.
STRONGLY AGREE! It could be a leather bound Time Life special edition with those gold.
I totally get why Balk drinks.
It's why we can't have nice things.

"The barest kernel of a book."
It's always about the bears, isn't it?
Congratulations! Is Lehmann a Maroon, too? Can I add some chauvinistic pride to the mix?
Awesome! I eagerly await Knifecrime Island by Alex Balk.
I APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENT FORMATTING
Awlsome!
I'll read it, but I'm gonna get REALLY EXCITED when the cookbook hits.
Talent rewarded. How rare.
Will it be real expensive?
Party in Bethesda!
Awesome news! I will cut pages out to secret my rich people things in it.
Hooray! Deserving People Things.
This is great news....will a free pitchfork be included with every copy?
This is so pleasing!
^ that's what she said.
As a Rich People, I want my copy boxed, like Proust.
Or do you want it boxed like Jonathan Ames?
(Davidson has a better body.)
"Robinson hopes to use guerrilla marketing tactics... and, of course, to 'promote through The Awl as heavily as we possibly can.' "
Yay! (?)

Got it. Thought the ? was directed at our side (where the ethics are unassailable and the word "breach" occasionally misspelled).
