A scene from last night's Golden Globe awards: "Notorious rapist climbs stage, is met with applause and loving jokes about how he could beat folks up (for example, prior to and/or while raping them). Movie featuring notorious rapist, which is about the hilarity of roofies, hating women who don't and/or do have sex, and Zach Galifianakis maybe being a registered sex offender (HA! Just like that one guy in the movie who IS A RAPIST, IN REAL LIFE) wins award for Best Comedy. More jokes about awesomeness of notorious rapist ensue; warm-hearted applause for notorious rapist resounds throughout the theater." For more about the Golden Globes ceremony, read this.

At least he was wearing a Haiti ribbon

Hypothetically in a situation like this, how long before Mike Tyson gets to start rehabbing his image?
It feels like when some people 'fuck up', even if it's repeatedly (but not repeatedly enough for death row), there is no forgiving them. Like, no matter how much they change people would rather just see them thrown into a spike pit, like in Mortal Kombat.
So never, I guess.
Yeah. He did some horrifying scary shit (is part 1 of the equation). And people will never let him forget it. It seems. Not a big follower/defender of his–just curious.
And then, you have Pete Doherty.
Part of the problem is maybe how some people think that punishments for sex crimes aren't high enough? Like he was convicted of rape, but was only in jail for 3 or 4 years? So it's sorta like, he never really was punished properly and thus can never be rehabbed.
Have you seen the documentary? Last year.
I just like him because he's Michael Steele's brother-in-law.
Ed Helms is hanging out with these people and is therefore making it harder for me to have a crush on him.
Dear people who watched: how was Ricky Gervais?
Very good, but hardly any of him.
I would have enjoyed the whole thing more if I had known that Sicha was liveblogging it on The Daily Beast. Strangely this was not mentioned on this site, to my notice?!
I think Mr Sicha makes a good point at the end of the liveblog about Avatar and the 'kind of movie' it is, and why James Cameron's peers may not have been that happy for him.
Gervais was really good, though.
I thought Cameron actually came off much worse than he did when he won big at the Oscars. Talking earnestly in his made-up language in the one speech, and then chanting about the orchestra, "they want to start playing, but they're scared, they're scared!" Jesus. He's never coming out of his private world again.
His joke about Mel Gibson = win.
All I could think about The Hangover is it's glaring plot hole: 4 dudes take roofies and no one gets raped?
I got the impression that nobody in the audience was happy about Avatar winning.
