Don't Mourn, Boys, Organize

More considered reaction to the Republican Senate victory in Massachusetts, reflecting something some Democratic operative said yesterday: Better Scott Brown for two years than Martha Coakley for a lifetime.

I used graphs! http://bit.ly/6swvns Brown's turnout almost exactly matched McCain's from the presidential election, vs Coakley's massive dropoff.

In fairness, not actually very consoling. But fascinating enough to keep me away from the whisky for another hour or so!

Now I'm using whisky.

I started organizing a roundtable at which democrats will discuss what lessons we're all going to take away from this loss and what we can do to prevent it from happening again, on a much grander scale, in November.

Did I say roundtable? I meant circular firing squad.

I watched "To Kill a Mockingbird." I needed to escape to a simpler albeit equally frustrating time.

"Rage Against the Machine" thru the skein of a semi-permeable Republican. Considering where this went down, leads one to think it's more of a signal re: status-quo i/o an extra dollar in the RNC's accounts receivable. (X-post from awl http://bit.ly/5QtoUy)

Yeah, you're gonna need to send your Furies after Brown, too. They can be like the B-team touring company.

Also I hate to point this out, but senators actually serve for 6 years, not 2.

This is a special election to fill the seat for the remainder of Ted Kennedy's term -- 2 years.

This was a special election to cover the remaining 2 years left on Kennedy's seat.

He is finishing the remainder of Our Kennedy's especial term as electedly referendumed on behalf of the majority of Americans, who don't support Healthcare, as mandated in an election which was not even close.

So this means that universal health care is no longer a guaranteed cakewalk? (I'm coping through sarcasm and bitterness.)
