Here's "Purple and Gold," the new song written by Prince in honor of the Minnesota Vikings, who play the New Orleans Saints this weekend to see who represents the NFC in the Super Bowl. As a Saints fan, all I will say is that I hope the effort Prince put into this song is somehow a metaphor for the effort the Vikings put into the game on Sunday. [Via]

I AM VERY CONFLICTED. Nobody wants the Colts to win. I know older fans who still curse them for their midnight departure from Baltimore. Watching the Jets in the SB would be a great b/c it would probably make Mangini stroke out while Belichick would get a huge boner thinking about Eric's bitter failure.
I would like the Vikings go. Partly b/c it would be very good for football in MN which has not been great over recent years with more and more rumors about the team moving. (unlikely but…)
Also, to see Favre in the SB would be high comedy in Wiscosnin. No joke, I get invited to a new Facebook ground everyday that is either pro, or anti-Favre. If the Vikings won, MN fans would essentially have one Favre superbowl to GB's one-Favre-SB… which would create no end of entertaining trash talking from MN… which hasn;t had a great deal of reason to trash talk.
And yeah yeah I know about the Saints and how the stories play about Katrina etc. And that's great. But that team hasn;t always had such "loyalists." I always knew it for regular blackouts (as did the Vikings) for years and years because of a failure to sell out games…. But, great games, all.
