All The Best Single Ladies of the Decade

omg RIGHT?Woman-interested site Wears the Trousers mag has been counting down their top 100 albums of the decade; they have now published from numbers 100 on down through 26. Tomorrow comes their top 25 and I actually cannot imagine what is going to be on it. Checking in at #99? Yo Majesty! (OMG, remember them from like 2008?) Yes: the "now-defunct lesbian Christian rap duo" that "didn't quite make the transition from internet phenomenon to unit-shifting hip-hop megaliths." Indeed. In other news, it's truly irking to see Hope Sandoval rank just above Gillian Welch (don't get me started!) but mostly otherwise this is a fascinating list that is an excellent guide for some lazy online shopping, basically.

I suppose it's just nice to see most of these show up on someone's list, but unless there are 20 or so additions in tomorrow's finale (there won't), it'll leave me grrrling like a Le Tigre.

Also? There aren't ten records from the decade better than Get Away From Me, let alone 90something by gurls.

Ranking Gillian Welch in the 26-50 range tells me all I need to know about Wears the Trou.

Also, Choire, you made me google Hope Sandoval. You are a sick, sick man.

Aww, Fade Into You was so great!

Also, having finally read the list, I think Portishead's inclusion just below Feist is positively criminal.
