Zadari Not Immune

I cannot claim to have anything more than a cursory understanding of the political situation in Pakistan, but this strikes me as something to be concerned about: "Pakistan's top court today struck down a controversial amnesty deal that has protected President Zardari and his allies from corruption charges, deepening country's political turmoil as it battles Islamic militants." Yay instability! What a cheering year this has turned out to be.

Don't be concerned. There's nothing here a nice, long hike on the Appalachian Trail can't fix.

Shit's fucked up. I am friends with a recent Pakistani immigrant, and she says that the government is terrible and the US is propping up the wrong guys. The ordinary people are caught between the government and the terrorists.

The Awl's Islamabad Correspondent weighing in here. This actually injects a weeee bit of rule of law and accountability in a system that has been a bit lacking of late.

But worry not. Your tax money will be propping up the Dubai real estate market for years to come!
