That Hoyt reduces the serious changes in workload and workflow that have been going on at the paper over the last three years to complaints about grammar is absurd...That Hoyt is unable to make these connections, and that is his job, I think, is terrible. I used to be a huge fan of Hoyt! His clockings of Cintra Bones, AleStan, and shady David "Poker Face" Pogue were awesome fun delicious smackdowns and I like pretending this crusty white guy is all like HOLD MY EARRINGS MOTHAFUCKA NO YOU DID NOT JUST CALL BILL KELLER'S MOM FAT, but this was just sad, like a judge who has to issue mandatory minimum sentencing: the fact that he can't (or isn't allowed to?) pair the T-Mag writer with Albo, MoDowd's many unimpeachable fuckups, the money they're bleeding, and the Minority Report-esque junket policy is just lame and sad. Should we be proud he can shit in the litter box?

CAN I CHALLENGE THE ASSUMPTION THAT THIRTY MINUTES AHEAD IS MUCH TOO LATE TO ARRIVE FOR A FLIGHT? First, I'll concede that it is not an advisable practice. You will probably miss a flight trying to work out such timing. I've arrived 90 minutes ahead at the airport entrance and have still found myself enjoying less than a minute's breathing time before boarding flights. That said, if you like having the feeling of your heart in your throat, and you don't have checked luggage, it is possible. I have done it three or four times this year, successfully, in ideal conditions. And, being denied entrance to a plane at the gate 10 minutes before scheduled takeoff (and voiding tickets in the process) is just a petty and harsh thing to do to a FAMILY. I don't blame him for suing, though I don't find it terrible that he did not prevail. Really easy solution to this, though: the boarding time should be the ticket time for all flights. Takeoff times should be no one's business; you have a time that you should be there, and a time that you will be disembarking at the destination, and that's it. If a half-hour ahead is not a half-hour ahead, then it should not be communicated as such. If I had a $200 reservation at a restaurant, but it took time to set up the table so I must have arrived 30 minutes early from THE TIME WE AGREED UPON and then I didn't and the restaurant just locked the front doors, I would just burn the place down from the outside.
