I sincerely believe this was a difficult decision for the Senator from Aetna to make: one the one hand, by killing the public option, he could make sure undermine the Democrats, the president, and, ideally, the sick and impoverished in this supposedly great country. On the other hand, by providing cover to other senators, some of the spotlight would be shifted away from him, leaving him just "one of a group." And as a the only member of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party, he hates that.
