New Video: Jay-Z, "Young Forever"
There's a new video for Jay-Z's "Young Forever," featuring Kanye West's British discovery, Mr. Hudson. (That's a funny name for a singer, right? Maybe he should sing "Broken Wings" next.) It's not terrible. Like many Jay-Z videos, it features some nice black-n-white photography. But the song is just such an obvious bid for prom theme. Jay's not at his sharpest. And Alphaville's original, from 1984, still sounds better.

OK out of all the songs on this album, this is what the new single is? I mean…well ok!
I dunno, I think Dave's right. It tugs at the heartstrings of the 16-year-old in me, even as the 33-year-old is mildly embarrassed about it.
But, uh, doesn't the original do that anyway? This just seems lazy. I mean, hell, it's 2 minutes before Zed even graces us with his voice. And because I mentally checked out of work already, I saw fit to count how much of the 5:40 is even him. The Answer: 1:51. Think you can buy this track prorated?
Definitely! (Although in the actual song, not the video, it's only about a minute till Hov speaks, and the track is shorter.) I was just saying, I get why he went with it as a single. Pretty Puffy of him, though.
To quote Pusha T from The Clipse – “That’s European Hov…I’ll pass."
