New Old Video Footage: Neutral Milk Hotel, "The King Of Carrot Flowers"
There's further footage from that amazing 1998 Neutral Milk Hotel concert we were lucky enough to get a back-in-time glimpse of last week through Youtube. Pitchfork has three more songs: "Oh Comely," "The King of Carrot Flowers" and "The Fool." Neutral Milk Hotel. Has there ever been a greater band with a lamer name?

After you posted "Two Headed Boy Part 1" NMH has become my go-to band again. Thanks for bringing them back into my music-fold and thanks for making me look about 10 years too late when telling people what I've been listening to lately.
In case anyone's interested, Merge is offering a discount on the vinyl reissue of both NMH records.
When the title was just "King of Carrot Flowers" I thought it would be either pt. 1 or the whole three parts performed as one. Misleading: there is no part one here! I'm partial to part one, personally.

"Has there ever been a greater band with a lamer name?"
1. The Flying Burrito Brothers
2. My Morning Jacket
Flying Burrito Brothers wins that one. I never expected them to be a bluesy band. Instead I just imagined a Mexican trio, similar to one that used to (still does?) ride the Lexington line in Manhattan.
also L train.
Yes! Great choices, both! But I think there's a greater discrepancy between the greatness of music and the lameness of the name with Neutral Milk Hotel than either. Other contenders: Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah; Monster Magnet.
Kitchens of Distinction.
STRONGLY AGREE. That said, they did a killer cover of, wait for it, "Father Figure."
From Our Noise, the recent and awesome oral history of Merge Records:
…Well, sure.
a better band with a lamer name is The Beatles. That is a horrific pun.
I hate The Be Sharps
I've seen him and his wife around Williamsburg.
