You don't see Jay-Z pulling a gun on a crowd in a snowstorm. Rather, he controls them through rap. Here he is, during Saturday night's blizzard, taping a performance of "Run This Town" with Rihanna for New Year's Eve With Carson Daly. Even when it's cold, he remains cool.
Good stuff. I'm mesmerized by Rihanna's outfit. Hope she didn't get midriff frostbite.
A: "Did you see Jay-Z and Rihanna perform in that blizzard a few years ago? I think it was around Christmas."
B: "No. But I'm pretty sure I recorded it on my phone."
Right. that clip captures that contemporary concert phenomenon well. I think it should be called "periscoping." (According to urban dictionary, the term already another, dirty, meaning. But then, what term doesn't?)
I think Japan must have a huge head start on us with periscoping. I have many, many times seen Japanese tourists go for hours looking at sites solely through the viewfinder of a video camera.
When I didn't know any better, I thought maybe Japan was a country full of amnesiacs, but it turns out they just really like taking pictures.
