As a lapsed BFA holder, I was somewhat jealous of this feature at first, but your drawings are just too lovely to hate for long. Please accept my critical adoration?
I've heard of the I Love You artist, but the I Love You More artist? That reminds of the children's book, I Love You More, where a mother and son read to each big measures of things and then end up with, I Love You More! Which reminds me: Will you please put out a children's book of your animal drawings, Amy Jean?
I loved this. AND I'm sending it to my frenemy who got mad at me for criticizing (or also criticizing, since Choire was first!) MK's non-illustrated Thanksgiving feature in the NYT.
WHAT?!?!??! 9th Street Bakery?! Did you have Thanksgiving with The Awl? The 9th Street Bakery at 1st Ave?! That is the greatest food establishment on earth. The wonderful Ukrainians (?) there serve these poppyseed danish that are, in all seriousness, like crack. There is also a clearly-mentally-unstable guy there (for years now) with a Flip Video camera who tapes all of the shows off the Bakery's big flatscreen TV. Which is awesome because, to begin with, what's a tiny bakery with 4 chairs doing with a big flatscreen TV that faces away from the employees???!?!
If one Awl feature survives the publication's inevitable failure/buyout, it shoudl be this.

I'm not a jerk in real life, I swear.
I love you more as I read this!
Ditto. And I'm only jealous that you had time to wander through a city that always seems to be in a gigantic hurry. Very cool.
I like incomplete drawings, my mind fills in the blanks.

Dogs pooping on the curb ARE embarrassed. It's true, it's funny and true!
This melted my icy heart.
Please, someone get a doctor.
