"A Canadian teenager has been rescued from an ice floe drifting in the Arctic sea, where he was reportedly stranded with two polar bears. Search and rescue teams… told the BBC he appeared to have shot and killed a mother polar bear in self-defence, orphaning her two cubs." Um, I have a couple of questions? But that is certainly some Life Of Pi shit right there.

I'm afraid to ask, but um… suck what exactly?

Where is Richard Heene? I mean it!

That's exactly what I thought on Monday morning morning when this story first broke on the CBC radio news. At that point it was still too dark up there and the Hercules planes were still warming up for the search and it was just a rumour that this kid was out on the ice. I was like 'check the garage'!
But yeah, nobody seems to be asking about whether they rescued the orphaned bear cubs too, or if they're now just wandering the ice of Hudson Bay themselves, alone and hungry…

Shooting a mama polar bear? That's sad. There's a link on the BBC page Most Popular Stories about a couple of people who probably deserve it more.

And I bet they left those cubs on the godddam iceflow didn't they?

A bit more detail in this story, and without the BBC's odious ant-Israel bias:

Check out how tiny he is in that photo – good on them for finding the guy (well, maybe their heat-sensors help too!)

Does this remind anyone else of Troubling a Star?

Except for the dead polar bears, obvs.

Coral Harbour sounds like a planned community in Broward County, except that it has a vestigial "u" and also it is the opposite.
