Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has adopted a baby cheetah. Bolt, who won three gold medals at the 2008 olympics and holds the world speed records for human beings in both the 100 and the 200 meter dash, picked up his new pet on a four-day trip to Kenya, where he is helping to raise awareness for an animal conservation campaign. He named the cheetah, which will eventually run even faster than he does, "Lightning Bolt." Pretty cool. But wait until the cheetah is fully grown, and returned to the wild, and then remembers his human friend one year later when Usain comes to visit with a camera crew in tow. A leaps into his arms to the strains of an Aerosmith power ballad. That's going to be totally amazing.

Adopting a cheetah is to animal conservation as Usain Bolt is to modesty.
11/2/09 ReplyI can’t quite tell if you’re poking fun or not, but THOU SHALL NOT MOCK CHRISTIAN THE LION. IT IS THE SINGLE BEST THING ON THE INTERNET.
11/2/09 ReplyI can’t quite tell if I’m poking fun or not either. But I do know that i can’t watch that damn lion jump up with that big ol’, goofy, lion-smile on his face and hug those hippie brits without welling up with tears. Every. Single. Time.
11/2/09 ReplyI also well up every time, and every single time I see the lion run toward them I am briefly worried that he is doing so in order to maul their faces off, rather than greet them warmly. Sweet relief!
11/2/09 ReplyI had never seen that. I definitely am still feeling the runners high, but I welled up and couldn’t make it stop. Damn you, Steven Tyler.
11/2/09 Reply*scalp tingles*
11/2/09 ReplyDon’t tell anyone, but I feel the same way about it. (The original Whitney Houston version, obvs.) Lump in my throat every time.
11/3/09 ReplyI THOUGHT it was Whitney Houston song in the background originally! Thank you for aiding in my sanity.
11/3/09 ReplyAww. I bet they’re gonna be fast friends.
11/2/09 ReplyThe Battle of the Mammels??
11/2/09 ReplyThey raise a paw, their names are called
11/2/09 ReplyThe bat, the cat, dolphin, and dog
koala bear and hog
the fox, the ox, giraffe, and shrew
echidna, caribou
This is racist. Or is that repetitive? Either way, it’s offensively boring.
11/2/09 ReplyReally he has done a great job. Now he is a celebrity and has rightly used his fame for spreading the awareness about the animals and their welfare. I think more celebrities should come forward for protecting the helpless animals.
