Jersey Mayhem: Villainous Vet Cops To Giving Bird Cold Shoulder
You know the old joke about the parrot and the freezer? A considerably less humorous version occurred in New Jersey, where veterinarian Mahmoud Hussein pleaded guilty to animal cruelty after the death of a Conure parrot outside the Howell Veterinary Clinic. As the Asbury Park Press reports, "The bird, named Tickles, was kept in an unheated entryway of the Fort Plains Road office and was found dead after temperatures dipped into the 40s." Hussein was fined $1000 and faces the possibility of his license being revoked.

My nieces actually found a conure parrot on the driveway this September. It immediately ran up to their head and stayed there eating bananas, drinking water and nuzzling in their hair. After it took a nap though, it started biting and stealing sandwiches. Maybe it was a jersey parrot afterall.
