I am not sure what they're putting in her water, but Gail Collins has been absolutely topping the charts over at the Times op-ed page for the last six months or so. They need to pass some of that stuff around.

Collins was essentially their strongest Op-Ed columnist before they sent her off to run Editorial, and I was delighted to hear that she'd be returning.
I generally dislike the phrase "full of win," but this column is an excellent example of it.
Sounds like she's been drinking a lot of radioactive meds, actually. But if that's what it takes to get more of this, I'm game:
"I have never believed that everything happens for a reason. But I do feel very strongly that everything happens so that it can be turned into a column."
That was folded in so expertly that it didn't even interrupt the flow, which it totally could have. She's a pro.
STRONGLY AGREE.
I came here to leave this comment. Darn you gregorg.
Love her!
Gail Collins is smart, full of common-sense, funny and writes with great clarity.
Sadly, her strengths also highlight how weak Maureen Dowd has become. Seriously, Dowd fluctuates between completely phoning it in, taking random shots at the Clintons and rambling, ala Peggy Noonan.
"I had just gotten a clean bill of health from my latest one when I found a lump on my left breast while watching a rerun of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,†multitasker that I am."
*clap *clap *clap
I also like that she's proud to be from Ohio; like your Abe, a good occasional reminder to NY that midwesterners have interesting ideas (except re: "christmas in stores" sarah palin lady)
