THIS CAT was trapped in an SUV and driven across town. (Cat survived.)

THIS CAT was dressed up like a literary character for the New Yorker's "Critterati" photo contest, which is really a thing that is happening. (Cat may not survive.)

Crap - I actually looked at that - Turt(le) Vonnegut?
Don't hurt kitties!
Evil, evil Awl.
Oh and someone should go adopt that cat from the SUV - they don't keep them long at Animal Care & Control.
Holy shit, the caption for "Isadora" says "Ready for a ride in the car."
Someone needs to go save that dog RIGHT NOW.
"So glad you're alive kitty, let me completely manhandle you."
There was an image embedded of the cat being manhandled by the emergency personnel that rescued it. I did not embed correctly. Use your imagination.
It this cheating?

What?? The "literary characters" there include Little Red Riding Hood, Zorro, and an Oreo cookie. Congrats on your collective failure of imagination, there, New Yorker readers.
I refuse to click that link, but I confess to being curious about whether or not anyone will prove bold enough to dress their cat up as Eustace Tilly and photograph the little darling in front of a faux New Yorker cover, maybe batting playfully at a butterfly.
I can't determine which one lost more of its dignity!
