Should We Repeal "No Homo"?

Negating the negatory: "If the point of 'no homo' is truly, as Weiner argues, to slowly make hip-hop less heteronormative, censoring 'no homo' can only speed up the term's intended progress. Why not encourage rappers to express alternate interpretations of masculinity without an easily deconstructed verbal safety net?"

What? No. I love "No Homo." In fact, some of the best gay sex I've ever had has been strictly "No Homo."

Again, ppl (other than rock critic types and radio programmers) still listen to hip hop?

I think they mean 'hip-hop' to include rap, as well. In which case, yes, many, many people still listen to hip-hop. Come around Bed-Stuy some time and listen to the pastiche of Jay-Z tracks coming out of everyone's cars/apartments if you'd like some empirical evidence.

When I say "no homo" I mean "no homosocial."

Not unlike Cato at the end of every speech (regardless of topic) urging the destruction of Carthage, I promise you now that at the end of every post I will end with "no homo." This is my pledge. No homo.
