Odd Trends: The Oft-Photographed Lawyer

LAW MEAbove the Law is all up on our favorite trend in law firm websites: you can't just have one picture of the associate or partner, you must have two or three. This is great for those of us who hire lawyers based on looks! Or for other discriminatory reasons, ahem. Have a bias against fat, thin, Mexican or ginger? You are in luck. Cox Smith is the brave firm that requires three shots; Ballard Spahr has just two. There is so much fun in these websites that I cannot stop browsing them.

Isn't having a name like Cox Smith enough? Now they gotta have spirit fingers too?

No, he's trying to appeal to African American clients, by being 'hip-hop'.

Looks to me like the universal hand sign for "and then I flipped her over".

I generally tell a few sex stories to the photographer myself to lighten the mood.

My understanding from reading Fast Company is that there is no other kind of VC

..and now I feel bad about posting that link. It is not that older gentleman's fault that his firm decided to follow a stupid marketing trend!

In defense of lawyers, other industries indulge this stupidity. A private equity fund for your midday cliking:

I work at a law firm that tries to humiliate its employees by posting embarassing pictures on its website. My response has been to refuse to sit for my "official firm webiste portrait".

I'm sure many mothers will find these photos helpful when screening potential mates for their offspring.

Move on to Private Equity web sites when you run out of lawyer sites. PE has been doing this for years.
