With two weeks remaining until New Jersey's gubernatorial election, Republican Chris Christie's lead-which was at one point in the double digits-has completely evaporated; the latest poll finds him completely even with Governor Jon Corzine. Whether or not Christie can pull it out-and none of the trends are in his favor-there's a valuable lesson here that future challengers running against incumbents, no matter how unpopular, need to learn: It is not enough to simply be "the other guy." You also have to stick to the salad. You fat fuck. present a detailed and credible plan that explains how your policies will be more effective than your opponent's. It's that simple.

Who does this guy really represent? The people or the corpulations?
Somehow I doubt this guy is going to do anything to curb government largess.
In sinuations in a campaign commercial are no cause for uncontrollable blubbering.
He needs to better flesh out his positions on government pork.
Instead, his position papers are larded with statistics culled from weighty tomes.
What the electorate really needs to know is, what are his gut responses to the big issues?
It's time for him to belly up to the bar and chew the fat with the ordinary voters of New Jersey. How else can we, in good faith, mark XXL next to his name?
Bravo, maestro.
(Hat, this comment is meant to go under your very last one, but I can't seem to reply down there.)
oh, hey, very interesting. it went there after all.
the mysteries of the Response Thread never cease to amaze me.
Wonderfully subtle headline above Christie's pic. Well played, good sir.
It's definitely a 'Deep Blue' worthy juxtapose.
More like No Neck in New Jersey. Amirite?
It's not over until...
This comment was authorized by the Corzine for Governor Committee.
This made my day. The VA governor's race is a lost cause but the comeback in NJ bodes well for Democratic candidates nationally. The Tea Baggers and the Club for Growth are going to put forward extreme right candidates in the Republican primaries. Some of those Paultards will get nominated in conservative districts and then slaughtered by Blue Dog Democrats. Hopefully that will preserve the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate and we can REALLY unleash the progressive revolution.
I would love to see the Progressive Revolution really happen but it's not Republicans that are impeding it, it's the Blue Dog Democrats. They have to answer to their constituents who are largely conservative but who happen to be on the other side of the political divide due to Republican fatigue. The Blue Dog Democrats scare me the most simply because at least I can count on the Republicans to always be nay-sayers, I never know where Blue Dogs are going. They're more rogue than Sarah Palin ever was.
Yeah, those Blue Dog Democrats should just shut up and tow the party line, even if it's against their principles and their constituencies don't want them to. Freakin' unpredictable rogues.
@Bittersweet: not saying they should tow the party line, just saying that if anyone is in the way of a 'Progressive revolution' it's Blue Dog Democrats. I disagree with their politics but they obviously represent a position that a lot of people believe in.
No, the plan is, if you're running as the other guy, make sure you're the only other guy in the race.
There's only one?
There's an independent candidate polling at almost 15% who's taking a lot of votes from Christie.
Well there is a skinny guy trying to get out.
Stop race baiting.
The bait here being a double bacon cheeseburger.
Mayor McCheese will emerge the victor.
Chris Christie on state taxes: durhrhurhurhudurr oh shit there's a Sonic on Rt. 17 now???
So I guess Gore was too fat to be President.
