Lady to Less-Informed Lady: "Welcome!"

Here is a hilarious letter to the editor in the Times in response to unemployed former Portfolio editor Joanne Lipman's rather heinous editorial the other day. It starts: "In 'The Mismeasure of Woman' (Op-Ed, Oct. 24), Joanne Lipman belittles organized feminism and its legacy to her generation." That is pretty awesome.

Lipman seems like an idiot. She seems to know nothing about the women's rights movement. She must have been promoted because of that split skirt and her sense of humor.

formerly it takes a lot etc.

I liked the letter from the history prof who said women's pay has generally been at what, 2/3rds to 3/4s of males, since around 1000 AD. So maybe inequality is hardwired? Although women make 110% of men in NYC right now. So maybe we're evolving?

"The writer is a founding editor of Ms. Magazine and the author of several books about women’s issues. [And the mother of this paper's culture reporter Robin Pogrebin.]"

Ah, Lipman is just pissy that she launched a business magazine that had no business being in business in the first place.

Plus, she sucks.
