In the wake of controversy over its ad characterizing a father's coming out as "super super gay" to his family as an unpleasant surprise, Canadian sandwich chain Mr. Sub has fired BOS, the agency responsible for the spot. "[W]e were very careful to downplay the reactions of the family members so the father's announcement would not be perceived as being catastrophic. It is most unfortunate that others have interpreted this commercial otherwise," says BOS.

"I mean, seriously, we didn't characterize it as a catastrophe. Just deep, deep disappointment."
Should have gone for the Welsh yobs vs Tranny crypto-cagefighters surprise.
That tie was pretty catastrophic.
One could read a mix of emotions into the faces of the children who, I'll remind you, all had very Biblical names. Lets make a list of those possible mental reactions from the kids, K?
1. Oh no, God hates fags. Dad's going to hell. Poor mom.
2. If he really is gay, maybe he's not my dad; I wonder who is?
3. Thank God, I thought I was the only gay one in this family.
4. Crap, now even cutting isn't going to distract me from this hellish existence.
5. This is all my fault. I'm such a disease.
Enjoy.
I'll just mention again for the record that the guy who directed this ad is a very good friend of mine, and it's definitely not the first time his stuff has been the subject of controversy. That's probably why they pay him the big bucks.
