Bar-B-Q Pope is one of my favorite Butthole Surfers songs.

Paul McCarthy is all over it.

Pope-on-a-rope, rope-on-a-pope, rope-a-pope, dope-a-pope, a-red-rope-on-the-pope's-pate... I hope.

Never seen a chainsaw on a stick - how do they get it to work if the blade's not connected to the motor?

The blade and motor are at one end, while the power switch is on the other. Pretty standard.

Devoid of irony, this is description of the branch trimmer.

oi... that's nightmare material.

I've stick chainsawed before. And actually prefer the ladder. Better to be above falling branches than below.

Also. I continue to adore this feature.

Never used them, but those bucket lifts and hydraulic chainsaws are wonders of modern forestry to behold.

And, agreed.

Agreed about both the ladder and the adoration, Abe.

Two lawnmowers on ropes wielded by Fran Liebowitz scare the bejeezus out of me.

Swinging them around her head?
That would be pretty scary.

my father, when faced with a particularly tall tree, decided to combine chainsaw on a stick with a ladder for maximum reach. he fell and fractured two bones in his hand. to his good fortune the chainsaw does not run when you aren't pulling the trigger - his injuries could have been comically worse.

One thing I love about this feature is the way it makes some features of life in rural Connecticut seem relevant here.

Let's hear it for my neck of the woods!

Apropos of nothing. Here is what a Balk/Jean Porter editorial contribution to Drawings in a Hurry would look like.

So...Leatherface was portrayed by Rosie O'Donnell?
