Obama Opponents: Terrible Man Should Stay Here And Continue Ruining Country

I got lazy searching for images this afternoonI'm confused: The Republican argument that Barack Obama shouldn't go to Copenhagen to lobby for Chicago to host the 2016 Olympics is that he's got to run a war and fix the economy and handle health care? All of which, they also argue, he is completely fucking up? I mean, if that were the case, wouldn't you want the guy to take a couple of days off? Maybe I'm missing something.

You see, both are true! First we heard the Republicans complaining that Obama was trying to "do too much". Then the other day I heard this table full of Long Island Republicans saying, "He's always on vacation...Hawaii, Martha's Vineyard, he should do something!"

You're under the mistaken assumption that logic is being applied to these arguments, Balk. Once you take away this presupposition all else becomes clear and the Republican arguments irrefutable.

I dunno, I feel like no matter what party is in power, the other party will always complain about the following:

1) How dare he go on vacation when he is supposed to be working for the American people?
2) How dare there be any smiles in the White House while people are dying out there?
3) How dare our tax dollars be wasted on the Secret Service detail and jet fuel needed to fly to Manhattan for dinner and a show?

Really, this is an issue that reaches across the aisle and gives someone a Wet Willy. Which reminds me: I used to have this computer game years ago and it was TOY.

Yes. I was about to point out that Bush got a lot of shit for his vacations. As if any President really takes a vacation.

G.W. Bush. Hrm. He was the one who used to go cut brush for three months each year, leaving Vice to mind the shop, right?

Cripes.

He left VICE magazine to mind the store!? Cool! Or not, I don't know anymore . . .

Well, the other countries who were finalists sent their big gun leaders too. This "leaderin' up" for the fight started recently when London sent their top leader and France did not and London got the Olympics. But turning the Republican argument to the liberal fight...I wish we'd see Obama and his wife's physical presence storming the halls and lobbying for the people's public option as they do so openly for the Olympics. I'm a liberal, but getting to where I agree with the folks who say it's been 20 months...and no regulation on wall street and banks and the health care bill they put together is far more anti-common man than would be proposed during the Nixon or even, early Reagan administration. Everything Obama seems to do is a Valentine to corporations.

20 months? Is that in dog months? In human months he's only been President for 9.

Because Obama gets as much done in one month as takes most people two and a half months, it's become quite customary to 'handicap' the President with an 'overachiever's factor' of 2.5 or so, just to be better able to relate to what he has done.

Yeah. 20 months since the acknowledged start of our financial implosion. It does go and run through the election. In the Johnson administration, Medicare was passed in one session and checks were out in 11 months. Even this crappy health care bill doesn't take effect until four years have passed.

With all the cash handed out, you'd think there could be at least those famous presidental orders that Bush put out. I don't think he's serious about tracking down what happened to the bailout money or new, effective regulation. I don't see that he's serious about a public option or serious reform. He's waffling, putting everything up for negotiation, keeping his hands clean by taking no clear stands, while being very clear, direct, and openly lobbying for the Olympics. Hell, I want to see Michelle out there shaking hands over Wall Street and bank regulation and the public option. I'm seeing an ad where Obama champions the bill, but NOT for the public option. FAIL. I hope Rockefeller runs against Obama. http://www.alternet.org/healthwellness/142700/5_reasons_the_baucus_health_bill_fails_the_basics/

I kinda hope Howard Dean runs against Obama. The guy is shaping up as a HUGE disappointment, although I'm willing to wait and see what happens.
