Despite people in the Awl offices FRONTING on these hard, and the movie tie-in on the packaging (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) being demoralizingly bad, these were not nearly as abysmal as the U.S. snackfood industry typically does strawberry. Strawberry Whoppers? Garbage. Strawberry Milkshake Double Stuffed Oreos? Chalky horrorfest. Basically what Hello Kitty's bones would taste like if you ground them with a pestle and mortar.

But whatever, we who know how well Asia does strawberry solo, strawberry+choco hybrids, and all strawberry+cream component permutations have always held very low expectations of domestic strawberry flavor anyway.

But knowing what we do about the deliciousness of peanut butter M&Ms and the coconut M&Ms (that you can only reliably find in the Greater New York City area at the Walgreen's on 23rd and Park), couldn't help but be curious.

Conclusion: Tasty BUT it's because they don't overdo it. It's essentially a regular peanut butter M&M with just a hint of berry topnote which is definitely pleasant. Unfortunately, the addition of this extra flavor strangely compromises the structural integrity of the candy (they mush dumb easy) which is baffling since the coating-to-interior ratio is maintained from the PB jams that travel well. Et fin.
