Foreign Death Panels Undercaffeinated

by Balk posted @3:30 PM

"That's not a thermometer!"Medical notes from Prison Island: "Exhausted Australian doctors have been told to drink up to six cups of coffee a day to stay awake during extended shifts, building pressure on Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to seize control of state-run hospitals. A document on fatigue management released by health officials in Queensland state recommended doctors ingest 400 milligrams of caffeine to stay awake on the job, or the equivalent of six cups of coffee, after warnings that patients were dying."

ha ha ha. but seriously, this isn't funny. the cover (COVER!) of this month's OBGYN pro journal is a piece about potential problems during surgery due to exhaustion… of the DOCTOR.

I would deeply distrust any medical authority proscribing 400 mgs of caffeine daily to anyone, let alone doctors.

No one with 400mg of 'jittery hands' is going near my internal organs with a scalpel.
