David Cho: No details on that or any of the other actual assault stuff. They actually brought up the interesting point that normally, in domestic abuse cases, the woman's identity is never revealed to keep her from having to go through too much duress.
David Cho: *emotional duress
Balk: You know what else causes emotional duress, probably? Being pummeled and bitten.
David Cho: Oh!
David Cho: The other highlight was having Larry King show Chris Brown the images of Rihanna, and then some of the videos that surfaced of Chris Brown addressing "the haters" after the incident
Balk: I have heard about those videos. Apparently they were somewhat unconvincing?
David Cho: Well, he made one of them while hanging out with the rapper Bow Wow (formerly, Lil' Bow Wow) and Chris Brown was kind of squirmy and acknowledged that he sounded juvenile, but he just wanted to get the word out that he was not a monster!
David Cho: He also cringed a little when he saw his own apology video on YouTube (written by him and his attorneys)
David Cho: But I think that's because of the weird red jacket he was wearing in the video
David Cho: Have you seen it?
Balk: The jacket or the video? The answer to both is no, but it is good to know it comes back to fashion.
Balk: Did Larry ask very tough questions?
David Cho: He tried to, but CB and his attorneys weren't letting anything through. They would "rather not talk about that".
Balk: I bet. I mean, they're only on a TV interview show. Why get bogged down in details?
David Cho: I think by the end Larry was a pretty big CB fan
David Cho: He said something along the lines of,
David Cho: "Clearly you're a talented artist and a really nice kid..."
Balk: Well, sure. We all make mistakes.
Balk: Biting, beating mistakes.
David Cho: That does not sound like sincere empathy Balk.
Balk: So this appearance was designed to do what, repair Chris Brown's reputation? Change the context of his image with the public from someone who savagely beat and bit his girlfriend — a crime to which he plead guilty — to a sweet kid who had a bad moment (which involved biting and beating his girlfriend) but is very contrite and will not ever do it again?
David Cho: Pretty much.
David Cho: They actually hit all of those notes:
David Cho: 1) He never had a history of abuse
David Cho: 2) He's young
David Cho: 3) Still in love with his girlfriend
David Cho: 4) Clearly he can't be that bad if he was so adamant about turning himself in and pleading guilty
David Cho: There was an awkward moment where Larry tried to pin Chris' behavior on his mother
David Cho: Because his mother had put him in the proximity of domestic abuse (one of his mother's old boyfriends/husbands used to hit her)
David Cho: But he backed off that pretty quickly
Balk: Did Larry wonder if the contention that he had no "history" of abuse might be informed by the fact that he IS young? And did he suggest that Chris Brown had no choice but to turn himself in after the horrific photos were released? Did Brown or his attorneys really try to rationalize the whole thing by saying it was just a one-time thing and the fact that he still loves her means we should give him another chance?
David Cho: Larry wasn't really going for the jugular on this one
Balk: He must be tired.
Balk: From all the other jugular attacks he delivers.
Balk: Much like Chris Brown, who, if the pictures are any indication, DID go for the jugular!
David Cho: ZING!
David Cho: I think @monjohn said it best in her tweet: "that Chris Brown interview was a waste. #chrisbrownsbowtie was way more interesting that him last night."
Balk: So as someone who had very little interest in this whole thing, what I should know coming away from this conversation before I forget all about the situation again is that violence against women is a terrible thing but it sometimes happens even if you love someone a lot, but it should be forgiven if you've never done it before? Or should I just be focusing on the bowtie?
David Cho: It really was a nice bowtie.
Balk: I'm sure. For the very little I know about Chris Brown, I do know that he has style.
Balk: And sharp teeth.

Needs moar #chrisbrownsbowtie tag.
1. Mark Garagos must have a cot in Larry King's studio; and a dragging trunkload of "just like my son[s]" in his Range Rover.
2. The only thing CB's Mom should be charged with is picking that color for him to wear to Sunday School.
That is his mom's form of domestic abuse. Making him wear his going-to-church clothes on Larry King.
Chris Brown is a disgrace to Paul Simon and the rest of the world's bow tie wearers.
Fortunately, Paul Simon still has his own emoticon and Chris Brown does not.

Chats with Cho! <3
Chris Brown is not a Monster he's a pussy, and he needs to find a way to secure his livelihood, that's why his mother was there. Just think, all that money she spent on those ballet lessons and singing classes, all the time she spent at shitty school and church musicals and "talent" shows.
CB " but mooooom, I don't wanna go on Larry King He's gonna embarrass me" Mrs. Brown " oh no! you're gonna take your going on that man's show and I'll make sure of it because I'm going on there with you"
CB " What No! I'm a grown man MA. My friends will think I'm soft"
Mrs. Brown "How tough did your friends think you were when they found out you were beating your girlfriend?"
CB "..."
Mrs. Brown " Yeah, that's what I thought, Now take your ass upstairs and put on that outfit I bought you for the Family reunion, Mr. Garagos will be here in 15 min."
"If the word that most often precedes your name is "disgraced" or "indicted," it's time for an audience with the King. Larry knows you are decent person. He'll give you the chance to make up your side of the story, And it's easy to cry on the show because King smells like onions."
"The Shallow Editors"
I was thinking something more along the lines of: "The Shadow Editors Jr."
and we have to point out brown's wonderful interview skills.
