Charlize Theron went on The View yesterday (that still exists!) and told the lady hosts that she would not be getting married to her longtime boyfriend Stuart Townsend until gay marriage was legalized across America. "I don't want to get married because right now the institution of marriage feels very one-sided, and I want to live in a country where we all have equal rights," she said. "I have so many friends who are gays and lesbians who would so badly want to get married, that I wouldn't be able to sleep with myself." (First of all: insert joke about "sleeping with yourself" for the gays here.) We applaud the sentiment. But she is going about it all wrong. If Charlize Theron really wants to effect change in America, she should say that will get married unless the government legalizes gay marriage. And that she will pose nude, holding a machine gun, on the cover of Maxim magazine as soon as the bill is signed into law.

Well, one might say, growing up in 70s and 80s South Africa gives one a lot to make up for.
Until gay marriage is legalized in the United States, I AIN'T GONNA PLAY SUN CITY!!!
I'm not getting divorced until gay divorce is legalized across America.
I won't get married until gay marriage is legalized in Cana... oh wait, scratch that.
Stuart Townsend is psyched.
What Americans call gay marriage is just marriage in her homeland. She could get married there without ethical qualms.
Also? And? But! Where is the Awl post about the consistent mispronunciation of her surname that has snowballed into existence after J. Nicholson mangled it at the Oscars? Hint: “Therón†is not pronounced as though it were written thus.
I'm not going to eat until everyone has enough food to eat.
I'm not gonna puke until I finish reading this...*rawlf*
She should just refuse to sleep with herself until polygamy is finally legalized in South Africa and leave the gays alone already.
Remmeber the good old day when there were no gays on Network TV? Hollywood had slowly worked them in to the main stream. If the majority of the US wanted gay marriage it would be legal. If people think I am a bigot for thinking the way I do, I guess that makes them bigots too. All these idiots want to do what ever they want to do, who is fighting for me when I get a seat belt ticket?
