Interesting bit in Louis P. Masur's Slate article about the creation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." He writes: "Peter Knobler, a writer for Crawdaddy, got an early listen in Springsteen's Long Branch house. The place was cluttered with motorcycle magazines and old 45s. Over Bruce's bed was a poster of Peter Pan leading Wendy out the window. The detail is suggestive: 'Wendy let me in, I wanna be your friend/I want to guard your dreams and visions.'" Huh. I never knew that. Makes sense, I guess. But it's kinda weird, isn't it? A Peter Pan poster? Above his bed? Makes Springsteen seem less like "The Boss" and more like Michael Jackson. (Or Kate Bush!) Or maybe The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

So Born to Run is just a rewrite?
"It's Peter Pan meets working class angst, with a little bit of Beach Blanket Bingo."
Hey Bruce Springsteen! More like Born to Fly.
It really tied the room together.
A really great name for a Bruce Springsteen cover band would be "You're Not the Boss of Me".
There you go, little idea... Run free on the Internet....
When I was in college a friend of mine convinced me not to hang a Motorhead poster over my bed because he thought it would lessen my (already low) chances of getting laid. He should know - he had a poster of the St. Pauli girl over his.
Bruce turns 60 today. Have some respect for geezer rockers. And no truth to the rumor that he is recording an album called "Born To Mall Walk".
Oh my god. It's his birthday TODAY??!! And here I was, already feeling guilty. (Now I feel guilty AND lacking in research skills.) I have blasphemed on Christmas.
AARP is gonna get you!
