Why John Hughes Left Hollywood

by Balk posted @12:30 PM

The untimely passing of John Hughes has unleashed a torrent of tributes and remembrances. One of the more affecting and interesting can be found here. It is burning up the Internets today, and for good reason.

And here is why I like you Balk, you don't fall into the Gawker trap of famous person dies, let's take turns pissing on his grave.

Whoever the fuck Dickie Rushfeld is with his fucking fuck story about insulting a dead man and his family and how that affected his own precious journey into becoming a hack, he has a lot to fucking learn.

So suck you Rushfeld and the horse you rode in on.

Here here. Between that shittastic "column" and Natasha VC's offensive Tumblr post that insinuated that Harry Elfont and Debra Kaplan are somehow superior to John Hughes, I'm not sure that Gawker/Defamer's entertainment-related posts deserve any further click-throughs.

It's one thing to take a contrarian stance on Hughes –see: Tom Perotta's excellent takedown of Hughes in The Guardian last fall (http://bit.ly/g2KsA)– but neither of these takes were either well thought out or the least bit persuasive.

I really liked reading that when it made its way to me this morning. Just an awesome story that seems rare. I find it interesting to contrast something like that with Twitter and the insanity of "OMG I would just die if Ashton wood say happy birthday to me today on my birthday".

What the hell does Judd Nelson say he asked MTV? It sounds something like "you nixed Hughes".

Am I gonna have to be the first to say it? Alan Ruck is pretty hot these days.
