Pneumonic plague, the story continues, can kill its victims "within 24 hours of infection."

Yikes. Good thing I purchase only Made in the U.S.A. plague. Southern Missouri and organic, I believe.
Cursory research reveals that this plague is the one historically known as "The Black Death" -- truly the gold standard of disease names.

I always thought the pneumonic plague was a shortcut plague that helped you remember other plagues and how they kill you.
God, I hope they bring back trebuchets, too.
