This love letter to Paula Abdul is rather wonderful, containing as it does this bit: "Not since Joan Crawford appeared, preposterously, as her young daughter's replacement on the soap opera The Secret Storm has a woman on TV performed with such catastrophic bravura."

The author also rolled out this nugget:
The Rolling Stone cover fell from, or moved to the bottom of, our consciousness in a psychic rendition of filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein's Odessa Steps sequence in Battleship Potemkin.
I'm not sure I can fit that baby in my pram, but it did make a crimson tear flow down my cheek.

!!
Love the clip where Sanjaya carries David Cook up the steps.
It's unfortunate for those young, sensitive contestants that 'the nice one' was also 'the batshit guano insane one'.
Oh my. What the hell did I just read? Is that an actual regular column? (The author photo--with its fabulous death glare--is suspicious.)
Paula is a "real" artist and Lambert isn't? The Laker girl who danced with a cartoon wolf?
And:
"At any rate, American Idol is through. It is rigged by hicks and sexually desperate old women (the show's demographic) and run by imbeciles." Ha. Brits. SO aannnnnngry.
And, finally, the lead:
"Call it a ripple effect. Then keep in mind Ripple was a cheap, toxic-tasting wine."
WHAAAAAAAAAT?!?!? What the fuck does that mean?!
I always loved me some Ripple.
Crosbie's not a Brit, sweetie darling. She's a Canardliak. (Angry ones do exist! RLY!)
Whoops. My fault. Saw "mail" and I think I confused it with "The Mail." I don't know if that makes her anger and more understandable considering the number of Canadian hicks...
MC Skat Kat was not a wolf! He was a kat!
Paula Abdul looks like the protagonist from The Dark Crystal in that photograph.
Mais où est le hat-tip?
You’re almost as bad at that as end-stage Gawker was or is.

Just so we all may know who this chick is.
Her obsesh with Adam Lambert is an embarrassment, but she is not wrong about Paula. Except the 'artist' part and SYTYCD being beneath her.
Everyone knows SYTYCD is the superior programme!
