I love the idea of giving kids more control over what they study, particularly when it comes to literature, but the choice should be from an edited list, not a free-for-all (the teacher allowed students to pick among graphic novels and James Patterson. JAMES FUCKING PATTERSON ARE YOU KIDDING ME SIT DOWN, SHUT UP, YOU'LL READ "AS I LAY DYING" JUST LIKE I HAD TO YOU FUCKING BRAT.)
