There's a new HBO documentary about former Washington Mayor Marion Barry, and he went on MSNBC to promote it. The entire segment is proof that if you can just hang around long enough people will take you seriously no matter how much of a sick, sorry joke your life is. Good for him, I guess.

He is such a joke. Don't know if you've been following the latest ex-girlfriend, sketchy contracts, gay marriage and city council infighting, but it is almost daily theater. Recently, they premiered a documentary about him during Silver Springs SilverDocs festival. Shocking how many people in attendance still hero worship him. I hope the adulation is ironic, at least.
YEAH BUT HE COMMISSIONED A PARK IN WARD 8 ONE TIME. Really, it's funny/frightening that there are many many people in DC that hold this guy up as some sort of saint. I thought the City Paper was gonna get firebombed when they ran that 'Cuz I wouldn't suck your dick' cover a few weeks ago.
That should totally be the name of his cologne: Marion Barry, Unrepentant. Redolent of crack pipes, pork barrels and utter lack of remorse.
