Just off the contrarian bus: I cringe a little when I consider the dastardly signage that regularly accompanied the gruff but truly vile Cheney/Bush wagon train.
The tone of those signs was as provacative...but the media did not seem to have the same tinge of outrage.

I'm fairly liberal, but I agree that in both cases such signs primarily just make their bearers look like idiots - both in terms of aesthetics and content.
