Here's some footage of the riots that broke out at east London's Upton Park last night between supporters of two rival soccer teams. One man was stabbed, because it's not a proper British riot without a little knife crime. If you want to find out which British team boasts the most violent supporters, check the league tables here.

Wait, ok. Slow down here, the only Nick Hornby book I've read became a Hugh Grant movie. And I know Merry England Town has a long history of this. But, like, is this a class thing? Tribal? Regionalism? There has to be something more then a love of shaved heads and sharp objects, no?
I know, Natasha, I don't get it. You'd think US football fans would be more violent somehow, but no.
It's a steam valve for the traditional British reserve.
This is the prequel to Choire's new book, Adventures on Knifecrime Island.
It's because it's Millwall and they are a bunch of thugs.I've been to their games and the combination of tats from the neck down with some of the most racist, expletive-laden cheers is unlike anything I've seen before. Their fight song includes the lyric, "...No one likes us, we are Millwall".
Actually, it's "No one likes us and we don't care"
Could be that by the end of the three hours it takes to play an average game of US Football (and baseball) everyone is to exhausted to fight. Plus there's the fact that you don't get too many "away" supporters traveling to games, it's too far in the States.
This makes more sense now. So like, when say, some HOOLIGANS (lol Hooligans!) come from the North to a South game they're all pumped and turfy? Tell me more about your lands! Do you guys have Puerto Ricans?
Wait, wouldn't the Irish be teh Puerto Ricans or is it the Welsh?
Or that our cops have guns and they like to us them. Often, and early.
I demand a 2k9 English society primer! Or is it British?
You see what I'm saying!?
Natasha,
Check out "Among the Thugs" by Bill Buford and Alan Clarke's 1988 film "The Firm". The more you know!
No. Go rent Irvine Welsh's "The Acid House" and see the final movie. Tha's right proper craic.
British or English, yall?
Yes, ma'am.
Young men like violence, simple as that.
And American sports fans are pussies.
