I can sort of understand why so many people might find it amusing or disturbing that David Mamet will write and direct and new adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank. But let's be serious: The guy is pretty much a born-again Jew. Do you really think he's going to turn in a screenplay full of "fuckin' Nazis" and "Otto, you cocksucker"s? Of course not. I'm sure he's going to approach the assignment with sensitivity, respect, and a dramatist's instincts for what makes a story vital and true. So remain calm. I mean, it's not like they tapped Quentin Tarantino to direct a movie set during the Holocaust, right? Because that would be something to worry about.

What a basterd.
American History X
Uprising
Defiance
Inglorious Basterds
What's with the weird Jewish revenge fantasy movies that are getting cranked out? Why is this a thing now?
Well? It feels good!
For who?

I can't believe I am linking The Atlantic but it hits a couple of the points I would make.
We're a sensitive people, but also slightly passive aggressive.
ABC: Always. Be. Concealed.
preparing for: Tiresome.
Mamet rocked the 80's. The rest is all echo.
so true. he's been a borefest for a while now: Redbelt, Spartan, Heist, Hannibal (!), State & Main ... conceited drivel.
I remember reading an essay of Mamet's about Anne Frank's diary (maybe in Jafsie and John Henry?). I think his conclusion was that it would have better (less violative of Frank, I think) if the diary had never been found at all.
